Edgar Allan Poe
It seems like reading Edgar Allan Poe stories around Halloween is a rite of passage for students in English classes. He wrote poems such as "The Raven" and "Annabel Lee" and stories like "The Tell-Tale Heart", "The Black Cat", "The Fall of the House of Usher", "The Cask of Amontillado", "The Masque of the Red Death", "The Pit and the Pendulum", etc.If you have read Poe stories before, which ones have you read and what do you remember of them? Did you like them? How scary/creepy were they? Share your memories of you or teachers reading the works of Edgar Allan Poe.If you have not read Poe or don't remember, describe to me what you expect from a classic horror writer? What kinds of stories do you think we'll be reading? Have you ever read scary stories?

i have never read a poe. what i expect from a classic horror writer is that they are really good at scaring people and know what there talking about! there movies or books have kind of a twist to it and its kinda confusing and than at the end tie it all together! and its interesting. i dont really read scary stories i dont read that often but i like to watch scary movies lke the ones whrere your at the end of the seet scared out of your mind with your legs off of the ground. its the best feeling even though you feel like your going to pee your pants i love getting scared!

i think we will be reading a horror/scary book for just some odd reason!no i have not read any scary stories! i dont like to read! and that is all i can think of to say!

Do you believe in Fate? Are there certain things in life that, once set in motion, are inevitable; things that cannot be stopped once they are started? The story of Romeo and Juliet implies that the path of their love and what happens to them is part of Fate's plan. Do you think this is possible?

Yes i do beleive in fate. Yes there are things that you cannot stop before they started. Romeo went to go to he party just to see another girl he thought he was inlove with than he saw juliet and she stood out and than they met up and she got his name they werent supposed to like each other cause there family was agenst each other. Well of course it is possible because if it wasnt it wouldnt happen

9th grade:

Define true love. Do you believe it exists?

(Hint: have you ever seen it? give an example. Why do you believe/not believe in it?)

Yes i do believe its exists. Yes i have seen true love in movies family members that are married. I believe it cause you can tell if it is true love with people just the way they look at each other and the way they act by each other. But than again im a girl every girl thinks that some stupid things to boys are really cute to girls. I believe in it though

9th Grade: What comes to your mind when you hear the words, "Now we're going to read Shakespeare!" Do you cringe in fear? Do you giggle with glee? What past experiences have you had with Shakespeare to make you react the way you do?

YAY!!! im excited but scared at the same time. Its seem like a fun thing to read about but sometimes you just don't get it. I have done a part of a play by Shakespeare. it was a fun experience im not so good at reading and acting out Shakespeare, but i would do it again any day. sometimes i think its fun to figure out how to understand the twist in Shakespeare. im not the best reader so i wont get it right away but i will get it down soon.

No!! one side of me is excited and the other side of me says no its a waste of my time. I will read it if i will have to. There are just somethings that don't make sense on what there talking about. but im going to try to understand cause its all about the positive right. If you pertend that Shakespeare is really interesting you might be able to trick your mind.

I will use my great positive attitude toward the old Shakespeare. there are alot of good things about Shakespeare. I haven't figured out what the good things are but there is im sure that there are interesting things about Shakespeare. im excited to be able to read Shakespeare and understand it cause i cant stand reading or talking about something that doesnt make sense. have a great positive attitude towards it!!!
